CD DVD burner disappeared from My Computer XP

Category: Operating systems , Windows , XP - acecondor @ 11:26

Exclamation point!

All of a sudden your burner has disappeared from My Computer?

In device manager I found a nice yellow exclamation mark on the device?

DVD Device Manager Error

The problem probably lies in the register of Windows XP, then proceed as follows:

  1. Make a new restore point system (not required but recommended)
  2. Download the file cdgone.zip , extract it and double click on the file cdgone.reg
  3. Reboot the PC

In detail, the log file contains this:

REGEDIT4

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SYSTEM \ CurrentControlSet \ Control \ Class \ {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}]
"UpperFilters" = -
"LowerFilters" = -

[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SYSTEM \ CurrentControlSet \ Services \ Cdr4_2K]

[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SYSTEM \ CurrentControlSet \ Services \ Cdralw2k]

[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SYSTEM \ CurrentControlSet \ Services \ Cdudf]

[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SYSTEM \ CurrentControlSet \ Services \ UdfReadr]

    Hello Maurizio, I write to you again some time ago I saw that you were a great help. I want to format my laptop (it was made of all), but I have the recovery disk how do I do? It 's an Acer 5630

      If the PC has a recovery partition you should get a Windows CD (Home or Pro, depending on your license) and provide for the installations.
      Then download the drivers from Acer website.
